| hi everyone :D im glad to be here to talk and to help anyone. ive been a dancer for about 15 years..however, a few summers ago i injured my foot/ankle pretty bad, and since then ive had two other injuries on the same foot...now the bummer is is that i was not able to get physical therapy for my foot  and they told me that if i want to dance again i would need to get surgery. now to me, this is no problem. as long as i could dance i would not mind, but my mother was not too thrilled about that. so ive been out of dance for about 3 years and i dont think i can handle not dancing anymore. too much stress :? my question is, is do you think i should try to go back to dance-i know its a dumb question cause of course it should be yes-but how would you guys go about it. im afraid to do something again to my foot- but i dont think the surgery is needed right now. i have been trying to strengthen that foot some...and make sure i dont do anything to it. but i really dont know what to do. i was thinking starting easy, but the first injury came on so quick im afraid it will happen again-no matter how slow. sorry for such a long post but i really dont know what to do...if you guys have anything that would help me out so much..thanks!!!! :D :D |

| Welcome Fate4727! :D Happy to have you here. :D I'm really sorry about your foot problems :( and I don't know what to do myself. Anyhow, I think you should see a doctor or someone that knows about this, before you use it a lot so that it doesn't get worse. :) |

Welcome Fate4727 to Dance Forums your going to really enjoy it here were one big happy familyand hey dont worry about the long post that s no problem.
I too am sorry about you foot injury and i knowhow much Dancing mean s to you. May i say this much you were already told by your first Doctor about the injury and about the Surgery. Before you do anything else i would go for a second opinon and maybe a third one also. There has got to be something out there besides surgery. Please by all mean s keep us posted on your progress ok were here for support too. Again Welcome to dance Forums. |

well thank you very much-i never really thought about more than one opinion ...but i will have to definitely do that... i would rather not have the surgery- no one would.....i was thinking about maybe going to teach for a studio thats near my house- i would have to dance-just not as much and not as hard...(not that i believe that teachers dont put in as much as the students do...i use to teach..) but less stress on the foot. i would love to get into that again as well as dancing myself- i just cant go on any longer without some type of freedom that i can only get from dancing-and i know you all know what i mean :D i will definitely let you know how its going, and if you have any other ideas just let me know :D you guys are great!!!
P.S. its nice to have a family thats loves dance just as much as i do again! :D thank you!!!! |

| :D Hey happy to be of some help :D Not a bad idea to go for the teaching and see how the foot feels and get those second opinons see what they say and if they clear you to Dance and dont need surgery just go back slow and easy. |

Fate,
I would consult with a doctor or trainer to see what your chances of re-injuring yourself are. Of course, nothing they say will be 100% accurate, that is why you should also think about how it feels to you, and how much you think you can push yourself. Take your opinion and the doctors, then make your decision. Either way, it wont be easy, realize that and you will be fine.
