Hi. Well, I'm considering starting tap, it's always appealed to me, and it looks fun. But I have a few concerns/questions that I was wondering if anyone could answer for me. Thanks!

1. I'm 14, most the girls at the studio started when they were way yonger, or they at least did some type of dance. I've never danced. Am I too old to start?

2. A lot of the girls at my school (High School) who are in dance are known for being snobby, not all of course. My best friend (who's a guy) is in dance and he's not, and so are a few of my other friends. But the magoraty of them are. I'm not exactly the most popular girl in school, I'm worried about fitting in.

3. I'm not good at any sport, so I'm worried aobut not being very coordinated at dancing. Is tap soemthing you have to be naturally good at?

I really want to join tap this fall, but I need some help and encouragement. Please reply! Thanks again!

Welcome Charmie! :D

1. No. ;)

2. I think you will fit in. :) I have discovered that dancing gives better self-confidence. :D

3. I don't think so. I don't think it really matters how natural you are, just believe in yourself and you will make it. :)

Hi Charmie.
1. No, you're not too old. I was almost 15 when I started tap. The studio will put you in an age and level appropriate class so you don't have to worry about being the oldest or youngest in the class.

2. There are snobby people in every part of life. You'll find them on swim teams and in art classes too. Not just dance classes. I'm sure you'll meet snobs but you'll meet great people also and that will make up for the snobs.

3. I've seen dancers who can't play sports and sporty people who can't dance. Everybody learns coordination at some point in their life. Maybe that wont be your strong point but you might be really good at something like remembering dance combinations.

The first several classes will be overwhelming. But stick with it. I promise that you will not regret it. :D

1. No one is ever too old to start.

2. You'll be ok. Remember you're the one that's brave and ready to try new things, and that's really cool!

3. I don't like sports at all and I'm very bad at all of them, all I've done is dance, and it teaches you coordination in a very short time! You'll get the hang of it, it just takes practice. :D

You'll be fine and you're going to love it 100% :!: :!: :!:

I find tap interesting as well. I always liked to watch people do it, it seems fun. Let me know how everything works out.
