The post previous to this was excellent on explaining what modern dance is. However, I was wondering if MODERN dance varies by culture, seeing as we all have different ways of looking at things. Or, can modern be categorized and be explained in one solid explanation.
Thank you. |

| Modern is expressive dancing. It id often a cross between ballet and jazz technique. It requires the dancer to show emotions and expressions through dance and movement. Dancers use expressive music while doing so to futhur enhance the emotions shown within the dance. |

i kind of dissagree. i don't think there can only be one defination of modern dance. i also think that it is more of a combonation between lyrical and jazz.
i love modern!!!!
it is for a ceartain kind of dancer though. you have to be very comfortable with moving in very different ways than you're probably used to. but if you are thinking of taking a class, i denfinately encourage you to. |

| I'm glad people are talking about modern dance and I'm wondering if the name will change when the traditional modern dance of the 21st century becomes dance history only. |

| Modern(contemporary) dance requires the dancer's ability of being flexible enough to transmit a feeling through body movement. Lyrical it's sort of different because the message of the song here is very important and the dancer has to express exactly the sentiments that arise from the tune. Both of them are full of relevance and filled with feeling. |
