Hello Guys and Gals,

I'm a beginning tap dance student, and I've decided to stretch myself and choreograph a dance for myself. I have no knowledge or experience at all in choreography, and I'm a beginning dancer...

So, I'm wondering if anyone can point me to a basic resource on choreography. I can create and mix tap steps fine - I'm a musician, so it's pretty easy for me to pick out rhythms in the music and create tap steps for them.

What I need help with is movement. I'm assuming that choreography is based on shapes - invisible shapes that a dancer creates with their feet, their bodies, arms, etc. What are the basic shapes used, and how does one create and mix them up, etc? Are there formulas to use, etc?

Thanks,
Adam
