I have had off and on thoughts of trying Irish dance, and seeing as I'm starting up dancing again, I figured I might give it some more thought. So, I'm just curious if it's a dificult dance to learn. I was usually pretty good at picking up on technique, but I'd just like to know what exactly I would be getting myself into xD

Also, I've had more of an interest in hard shoe than soft, but I'm wondering if it's a good idea to take both.

It's not way way difficult, but it's not the easiest thing on earth either. It takes a lot of physical stamina, but if you're already a dancer, that's probably not that much of an issue. Crossing over and turning out are the hardest things for me and most dancers in my class, followed by pointing toes, straight legs and staying up on toes.

Some teachers (my teacher does) requires soft shoe experience before trying hard shoe. This is because making contact correctly (between feet and floor) and a lot of the dance technique is easier to start with on soft-shoe. I love both of them for different reasons. They're both awesome possum if you ask me.

Oh, and by the way, I'm from the Seattle area too. What school are you thinking of joining up with?

Thanks for the reply. I'll definitely keep all of this in mind.

I'm taking my ballet class at Bellevue community college, since I'm already doing school there... plus it's cheap  And as far as looking into irish dancing, I have noooooooooooooo clue. Which studio do you attend?

That sounds like a great class.

I'm part of Scoile Rince Slieveloughane or SRS.
