I would recommend taking a ballet class from the beginning, just to get comfortable. Maybe after a month or so then start on pointe. You should make yourself strong and stretch at home if that's what you're going to do.
Hope this helps :) |

Yeah, start at ballet not pointe. Your muscles won't be strong enough if you have never taken ballet before. And like liltapdoll said, just to get comfortable with it.
Good luck with dance |

to tell you the truth, I think you can send them back...have you taken regular flat ballet classes, and your teacher told you to buy pointe shoes? If not, send them back if you haven't used them...
Also, make sure your teacher tells you when you can go en pointe. This is because your ankles need to be strong enough. You also need to make sure your back is straight, your derričre is not sticking out like a duck, but also make sure you are not pulling your pelvis forward, as this is not correct alignment.
And also, are you able to do a Pikč and see if you are able to hold your balance. If not, then you aren't really ready for pointe. But keep it up! I worked really hard, and within a 21 months of dancing, my teacher told me to go up en pointe, and I'm really good at it...I also concentrate on my work instead of saying, "Oh, I'm en pointe!" and "Oh, this sucks...it hurts!" Keep on working! You'll get it soon! :) |
