I'm 14 and I have been on pointe for about 3 months. Last night at dance rehersal i realized that the sole in my shoe was coming undone. My teacher said that I need new shoes. The shoes I have now are Bloch Heritages. Is that I good type of shoe or should I try something different. What type of pads are best? I'm using the Ouch Pouch but i don't feel like it does much. What do you guys think?

What makes a shoe "good" or "bad" really is dependent on how it fits the individual person wearing it. How would you describe your foot? For me, Bloch Serenade is terrible, but I'm sure it's a great shoe for someone with the right type of foot for it. If I'm not mistaken, the Bloch Heritage is the so-called Russian-style shoe with the low profile and short V-cut vamp? If you have short toes so the vamp works for you, then it sounds good to me as long as the box is holding up well for you. (Some of the Bloch's die fast.) When you say the sole is coming undone, do you mean that the insole is peeling off under your toes, or under your heel? Either way, it can probably just be glued back down. Do the shank and box still support you? If so, then it's probably not necessary to buy new shoes yet. Also, even when the box does start getting a bit soft so you start sinking into it, you can extend the life of the shoe a little bit -- maybe a couple of weeks -- by inserting Gaynor Minden Dynamic Box Liners.

As for pads, I use Leo's 30% thinner gel pads (the purple ones) and they're very nice! They make pointe work very comfortable without being too bulky.

I hope I could help! :)

it feels kinda strange to describe my foot but here goes. my toes are abnormally long and i have a decent arch but they're really wide. the sole is coming completely up under my heel and i'm having trouble keeping them on when i go into full pointe.

Maybe you should see some pointe specialist or something. If they keep coming off.

Use the gel ones they're the best 'cause the others don't seem to do much... but I'm not allowed to use ouch pouches anymore 'cause we have to "feel the shoe" and we have to tape our toes to prevent blisters and that's all we get to do... yesterday I forgot to tape my feet and it didn't hurt but today I taped them and I got blisters....
