| I almost managed to do a douple today! It was amazing... however I'm having a hard time (gracefully) finishing them. I could use some advice on posture, placement, whatever, to land these things. Thanks ^_^ |

Keep your spot, and when you are preparing for you pirouette, you must keep all of you weight forward. Try to lift the back leg up without struggling...after you do that, just pop up into passè, and see how long you can hold it. Count in seconds, like 1 Mississippi, 2 Mississippi etc. and however long you can hold it for is how many pirouettes you would have done!!!
After you do that, remember to spot, and just go for it. Try to land them in fondu arabesque. this will help with graceful landings. Keep your weight forward, and never sit back. This will help!
I love doing doubles. The sad thing is, I do doubles better than I do singles. |

Start from a deep plie. Get low to get high. Practice stationary hold on a barre. While holding fix your body position and try to balance. Find the position that looks good but makes you balance the easiest. Your body is shaped differently than anyone elses so you are the one who has to find exactly what your position should be. Stick to the basics such as tight and pulled in stomach, hips under your body, bottom knee strait, and kneck long. Then adjust anything else you need to from there. Don't turn on your heal or get into the habbit of hopping. I hope this helps. |
