| The most important thing to remember is that you must prepare correctly(translation: plie, plie, plie!) You must plie or your leap will go nowhere. Once you're off the ground, lift your upper body, and really "reach with your legs" while keeping your toes pointed. If you can do your splits, just imagine yourself doing it in the air. If not, just push yourself as far you can without hurting yourself!! Trust me, if you practice your leaps, they will improve! Good luck:) |

What every one is telling you, get down low and really bend your legs. This will help you get more momentum and speed to force yourself into the air and get higher off the ground.
Also when you get into the air you need to think tall and pull up your body. Imagine there is a string on the top of your head and it is pulling you up off the ground. It might also help if you look up. I find that your body tends to move or go the way you are looking. If you look down, you are more likly to go downwards. Think Positive and work hard on them and you can get them. Don't forget to point your toes.
If You have a choice of what ares to use, fifth would be the best because you can prentend you are reaching and pull your body upwards more. Personally I also think that it looks better too. |
