| Hey jlevine. I am a dancer from Romania and I can give you some advice on how to jump higher. You can find in sport stores weight bags for your feet. They wrap around your ankle! I first tried these when I was playing basketball! Just put them on and start to jump! It is a little hard but when you will take them off you will be surprised of how high you will jump and how much time you will stay in the air! Try this a few times a week but do not exaggerate because you might hurt yourself! Hope this helps! Peace |

| Hi jlevine, it sounds to me like you aren't using a deep enough plie when you jump. (thus the hurting calves). I didn't have a particularly low jump, but I wanted to get higher. I started taking a deep plie which forced me to use my quad muscles, not just calves. "Springing" with your calves, as I call it, is also very straining on you achilles tendon, and can lead to tendonitis. Hope that helps! |
