| I recently choreographed a dance to Dear Mr President by P!nk for a choreography comp. I reckon If I Were a Boy by Beyonce would be cool too. |

| It always helps to get music that is a little off the beaten path. Getting a song right off the radio can be a little cliche. |

| im not really a modern dancer, i mean i dabble but im not really trained, but i had a little inspiration from Coheed and Cambria's Welcome Home song, the lyrics are powerful, i am currently working on a small modern but mostly hip hop piece to it myself, and the modern moves flow really well. |

Would recommend listening to film soundtracks for unusual music ideas. People have often heard the music before but can't think where from which is always great, familiarity with the music without it being over used and as a previous poster said 'cliche'
To start you off try the Bourne identity soundtrack for a 'punchy', energetic or angry piece. The amelie soundtrack has some nice stuff on too... some very quirky pieces (maybe for bouncy, happy contemporary)... some really beautiful pieces ('un autre ete' is a nice one) for balletic, flowing contemporary!
Hope your audition go/went well!
Regards,
Neil @ KNT Danceworks |
