i am currently working towards my silver arts award and i need feedback about my review below,
On Thursday the 20th of November I went to The Lowry theatre in Manchester to watch a dance version of Edward Scissorhands.
The lay out of the stage was very well presented and had many different props. Such as make believe houses and hedges. The theatre itself was very spacey as well so it made it a better place to sit and watch.
It started off with just 1 man on stage, looking as if he was sewing Edward together but as the piece went on various other people were on and off stage. The main characters in the piece are Edward and his lead female.
I think that the whole piece was a success there was nothing wrong with it at all and not 1 of the dancers put a foot wrong, Well not that I noticed anyway. The moves were fluid, the music was nice and there were different types of music that set different moods. It changed the atmosphere a lot as well it had some parts that were funny, exciting, sad and happy. That kept you on the edge of your seat.
The best part of the piece was the ice duet between Edward and the woman lead dancer. It had strong fluid movements and it is also 1 of the first times you see Edward dance. In the space you can see just an ice sculpture and it seems to be snowing down on the 2 dancers. The music is great and the choreography by Mathew Bourne is outstanding.
I would rate the piece a 10 out of 10 because it was amazing from the start to the finish. The music was great, the humour and other moments of feeling were great and the choreography just topped it all off. So I would recommend it to anyone who was thinking to go and see the piece.
