After searching for a long, long, long time...I finally found a belly dance movie a few years ago. I was so excited to learn of the new movie that I went to the store immediately to purchase the film, only to learn it was a foreign film and very difficult to obtain. After a year or so of searching, I was finally able to order the film and have sinced enjoyed watching it over and over again...
Satin Rouge...
"After the death of her husband, Lilia's life revolves solely around her teenage daughter, Salma. Whilst looking for Salma late one night, Lilia stumbles upon a belly dance cabaret and though initially reserved and taken aback by the culture of the place, Lilia gets consistently drawn back to it. She befriends one of the belly dancers and is encouraged into dancing for the audience. Lilia also starts a romance with one of the cabaret's musicians, who unbeknown to both of them, is also romancing Salma."
While this film must be viewed with subtitles and the plot drags in places, it is worth watching soley for the belly dancing! Absolutely amazing choreography, beautiful dancing, and breath taking performance costumes.
If you're a fan of belly dance, I encourage you to check out this film! Have you seen it already? What did you think? |

I actually purchased the film through Barnes and Noble. Following these steps to get to their online store where you can purchase the film...
1. Go to www.google.com
2. In the "Search" field, type "Barnes and Noble"
3. Click "Search"
4. Once the search results have loaded, click on the website for Barnes and Noble.
5. When you get to the store, on the left side under "Search" change the drop down menu from "books" to "DVD/Video."
6. In the text box below that field, type in "Satin Rouge"
7. Click "Search"
You should then get a listing of the film with rating and how to purchase. I belive you can also purchase through Amazon as well. Enjoy! |
