Technique for your pirouette will make you go around. This is definately one of the moves that you have to have to technique pat down in order to get anywhere with it. The better your technique, the more of it you do and the more you apply it, you will be able to do more and more turns for your pirouettes. Don't worry, you will be doing it soon enough then working your way up to triple and quad pirouettes.
Some tips on technique to help you get to the double pirouette would be to keep your arms in and close to your body. This helps to give you more speed and momentum into your turns and it looks so much better. You also need to remember to pull up and stay on your toes! This took me a while to figure out and get use to but engaging your core and holding it in helps you to pull up which is much needed in pirouetting. Practice balancing on one foot will help you to balance on your feet when you are doing your pirouette. Again keep your retiré close to your knee will help you to get that momentum and speed into your turns. After you get those, work on keeping your shoulders down and elongating your neck. If you work on these you will be fine. Ask your dance teacher for more about this and to help with your spotting.
But the key to getting any dance move down in any style is to practice, practice practice. Just keep working at it anf you will get it! |
