Hi, I had a question see I am a trainer and have a client who is a dancer, she does ballet, contemp, jazz and so on. I have preformed some assessments on her and she has a very great turnout for dance, but working out the turnout is not so good, she needs to be turned in, feet foward/straight ahead. She is scared though that by training this way she will lose her turnout, I wanted to get a dancers opinion on this? what do you think?

Tell her not to worry about it. She will always be able to do beautiful turnouts. I was the same way when I started to try other things other then dance and workout at the gym. I was against doing anything that wasn't in turnout with the acception of running. After a while I tried to do some of those things. I could still do it perfectly fine and could easily transition from one to the other and back. Personally I would reccomend it because it gave me such an insight on how the muscle in my legs would and allowed me to have greater control over how they moved. Tell her to just go for it and trust that she will still be able to do turnout.
