Okay, this is pretty late, but Welcome to the Forums!
Unfortunately I know nothing about axels, so I can't help you there. |

| Practice grand rond de jambes and make sure to tuck your legs underneath you. TRy to kick your butt while stiull keeping your knees in front of you. |

| Stand on one leg with the other in a non turned out posse, jump off of your standing leg and bring it up, almost kicking your butt, land back on the same leg. After doing this many times practice the prep steps. If you are doing a left axel step left right, jump off of your right leg. For right step right left and jump off of your left leg. If you've done turning leaps it's the same prep. While you are turning in your axel do the same drill that I wrote about in the beginning only turn while doing it. I hope this helps. |

I've found just practicing them over and over again is good- start with single... What type are you doing- turned out, turned in or the kind where you just jump without doing a sort of grande rom de jambe with your leg(spelling?)
If you are doing the first 2 kinds, maybe try practicing at a barre doing the grande rom de jambe part and bring your leg around and put it up, then on the floor you can add the jump and the turn.
~Hope this helps~
