| BGhost is right. Usually books/dvds/lessons don't really help. Just work on your own, check the streets, and check out free raw footage online. That's the best way to get better. |

|

| Hi, I was a beginner two years ago. I take classes but before that I would watch videos of people breakdancing, and just note on how they were being done. (Just type in something like "breakdancing" on YouTube and only about a million will pop up.) It's better than taking classes. And as it was mentioned before, all you need to do is go downtown of where you live, and pretty much every guy there will be able to breakdance. I'm a girl so I didn't do so just incase, but taking breakdancing classes does about as much as nothing. On "about.com" there's a lot of moves and how to do them, all you need is practice. |

Heyyy, I am also a beginner (for breakdancing), it is something I was always soooo interested in, I used to see the street performers. The moves they perform made me wonder how I could do such movements, and I'm still wondering!!! , but I def need to practice, good luck to all newbies!!!!

First of all I'm new to the forum.. but not to dancing.. it's nice to see other girls on forums, I havn't seen alot of b-girls on forums yet.. I completely agree with the above statement except for one thing.. you have to be careful with youtube.. it can also be a bad source of info.. especially if you're new to the game... I found that out the hard way.. some people put some stupid stuff up.. another good suggestion find out where the next jam is and go to that.. GREAT way to get into the scene :)

If you are in a beginner stage tries to concentrate in basic steps. It will help you to improve your performance.
