My daughter has been dancing various forms of dance for the past 5 years. She is now at the age where she is getting serious about dancing and I want to make sure to get her quality shoes. Can anyone recommend shoes that are good for a 9 year old and tap?
Thanks

Welcome!
I can't really speak to one type of shoe over another. I would say since she's young, stay away from leather. They more costly and she'll likely grow out of them quickly.
I would recommend talking with the instructor as he/she may have the best suggestions.
I personally like Capezio style shoes. |

Well, since she's young, like dancersdreamland said, expensive leather might not be viable at this point, but once her feet stop growing it's a good idea to get some good, lasting quality shoes. At this point, it might be a better idea to check for used shoes (my studio often sold used children's tap shoes which were usually a bargain and sometimes better quality for the price than getting brand new).
However, since your daughter is more experienced and getting into a higher level of dancing, the plastic Mary Janes might not cut it anymore and she'll need shoes that provide a richer sound.
Talk to the instuctor for suggestions. In addition, there might be a specified style or colour, such as black oxfords or beige heels.
And as for brand, it's really up to the dancer; every dancer I've talked to swears by a different brand. Have your daughter try on several different types to get a feel for the fit, look, and sound. |

Hi,
I think it will be best if you go for asking to some good dance instructor as he will guide yo perfectly to have good tap shoes that are required.
Thanks!!
