I am so psyched! The belly dance class whom I have been dancing with has been invited to perform at a large event in our area this Friday! We have practices throughout this week to perfect the dance we're doing and then Friday around 6:30 p.m. we'll be on the main stage.

I just had to post something here...cause I knew everyone would be supportive. I'll be sure to update on Saturday how everything went.

My classmates and I will be having a performance for Harem Night in Singapore somewhere in July too. My teacher is very thoughtful to schedule it after my wedding next saturday :)

Thanks for all the well wishes! I'm pretty sure my husband is coming, so I'll have digital photos right away...

We're also closing on our house tomorrow and will be moving over the weekend, so it might take me a little bit before I get back to post. I'll try to sneak on at the earliest possible moment. :wink:

Okay, so here's the scoop...

The belly dance performance turned out to be nothing like what it was supposed to be. We were supposed to be dancing on a stage as a single act with a full audience and no interuptions...

What actually happened is we had a small grassy area in front of a vendor table in a park where there was a very large event happening. Rather than being on the stage with a captive audience, we danced in front of a small table while the band on stage continued to play right through our scheduled performance time. You couldn't hear our music and no announcement was made that we were dancing...

On the positive side, a very large group formed and really enjoyed watching our group dance. Even though none of us knew what was going on...all in all we had a super time!

The whole time I just kept thinking back to the book "Snake Hips" and Anne's first belly dance performance. One of those, "anything-that-can-go-wrong-does" sort of things.

I hope we will do more performances in the future...with better planning ofcourse! :wink:

Anyway, I am sure the audience will appreciate the profesionalism displayed by your group dancing. That's the spirit!

I better get going cos I am getting up at 6.30am to prepare for the wedding. I see all ofyou around in a few days time, when my internet connection at the new house is ready :)
