Anyone seen the movie Honey?

It's a story about a girl in her early twenties named Honey (played by Jessica Alba) who wants to dance. At long last, she is discovered while dancing in a club...but when she gets her dream of dancing in and choreographing for videos, will it really be what she wants? You'll have to watch the movie to find out.

When I first heard about this movie, I was so psyched! Another dance movie, how could it possibly go wrong. My expectations were very high.

Then, when I saw the movie in the theater I was disappointed. I really liked the dancing, but the store line seemed slim or perhaps the acting seemed fake.

Like I do with most movies I'm not sure about, I watch it again when it comes out on video...after my initial bad taste has been washed out and my expectations have fallen into perspective. With Honey I was pleasantly suprised. Without the expectation that the movie would be the best thing since sliced bread, I actually enjoyed the plot and lived through the dancing even more. It's now turned out to be one of my favorite movies...with my only reserve being that the main character is so "innocent" the acting comes across as poor and fakey.

Your thoughts on the movie?

The kids want to see "Honey" however I need to see it first.....I have a feeling that it's not appropriate for a 10 year old...Gabe is 14 however....thoughts on this anyone???? I haven't had a chance to see it.

There are scenes of violence and some sensuality that may make the movie inappropriate for younger viewers. I would encourage you to view it first and then make that call.

If it ends up being not right for the younger ones at this time, at least you'll have gotten to see a decent dance show.

P.S. Gabe, you are an amazing dancer!

It's been a while since I've seen it, but from what I remember of it, it was really good. It's one of the best PG-13 movies I've seen.

I loved this movie! It might not have been that real of a storyline but I think the dancing was awesome! This movie is definitely in my top 10! :)

The first time I really enjoyed it (am a biiiiiiiig Alba fan), I went to the cinema without any expectations but the second time around (with a few friends) I wasn't so pleased.
The acting was bad and there is a lot of things that are very unlikely to happen, plus just plain mistakes... the kids that used to be able to just hiphop suddenly tap dancing etc... well still the dancing is nice, the (love)story is kinda cute and the music is really good.
I guess I would watch it a third time if it was lying around here or my sister rented it...
Love, Cami

The dancing in it is really good. The acting less so, but that has more to do with the situation and dialogue than the actors.

If you want an equally lame plot but with slightly more realistic characters and dialogue (only slightly) I'd suggest You got Served.

If you want amazing dancing and no scripted dialogue at all, check out the documentry Rize about Clowning and Krumping. Awesome.

It just came out in theatres maybe a month ago. You've got at least threemonths before it is released on DVD... but I will be waiting in line to buy it. The first Battle between the girls is reason alone to buy the movie.

Going back to Honey, I think that issue isn't even about bad acting but, rather, about bad characters... i.e. there was no depth to them. Hadn't even heard of Rize until just now!
