Here are a few of my favorite belly dance songs...
- La Valse by Faudel
- Desert Rose (Melodic Club Mix) by Sting and Cheb Mami
- Talakik by Hakim
- Il Alem Allah by Amr Diab
Mostly, I love any of the songs from the Bellydance Superstars (Volume 1) compilation CD and the Desert Roses & Arabian Rhythms compilation CD.
How about you? What are your favorites? |

Just bought two new dance CDs...
Desert Roses (volume 3) - Aboslutely love it! There is a remake of "Walk Like an Egyptian" with Hakim. I think they are by far my favorite bellydance band.
Bellydance Superstars (volume 2) - Purchased over the Internet and should arrive in the mail within the next day or so. Can't wait! |

I just received a copy of the Thousand and One Nights CD and I am completely loving it! There are eight songs in all, but they are all really long...four or five minutes at least. The fourth song, whose name I can't recall, would be perfect for a fusion of bellydance and hip hop. Every time I listen to it I envision a battle dance sequence where bellydancers do a counted routine, then the hip hoppers battle back with their sequence, and it continues. Finally, they join forces and have this amazing hip hop and bellydance fused style.
I can tell this is one that will keep me up at nights until I do some choreography! |

I really like to find the newest versions of anything, so I find the music that's I guess, really tough to find. But it's considered popular in the Arab world. I guess you would say "Arabic pop music".
I love, Ehab Toufik, he's great, and many times mistaken for Hakim, I guess the voices sound familiar. Mohammed Atieh is awesome, I love his music. Maya Nasri, very good and I'm just getting into her stuff. Assi, when can I ever say I've loved an entire album, until I heard an album from Assi, you've gotta check him out!!! |

| Just one more thing, once you start to hear this music, and it may just be me, but you may start realizing that these other more "popular" cds often sold to Bellydancers are more of compilations of the songs that have been made great over the years. This is good, b/c they serve as an intro to the music, but it would be extremely beneficial to check out the albums they come from. |

i've been looking around on amazon.com, and one i came across was 'Ghazally' by Hamid El Shaiary & Mustafa Amar - a sort of 'fun arabic pop'. i also like one by aliek asaal but i don't know the name of the song - no lyrics just music.
