What is your favorite belly dance movement to dance? Favorite to watch?
I think my absolute favorite to dance is the camel followed closely with the horizonal and vertical hip figure eights.
My favorite to watch is probably the belly undulations only becuase I am extremely fascinated at the way people can seperate their stomach to do this movement. It's something I want to start working on and will hopefully be able to do one day. |

| We're working on shimmy walks and I enjoy doing them slow and at a medium pace. Anything too fast and I forget to breath because I concentrate so hard... I'll work up to the fast speed and then probably enjoy it just as much. |

hihi....I have that problem too....when I concentrate too hard, I forget to breathe and my shimmies goes disorientated. Lots of gals in my class have this problem too.
I have got another problem, my right shimmy is stronger than my left. I tried very heard to control and keep it balance....and it proved a challenge to me |

| There are some great faster moves, but I don't think there is anything as captivating to an audience as slow figure eights, to a good, slow flute. Especially behind a sheer, black veil. I love the dramatic affect of that. |

Welcome to the Forums, Allison!
AMAZING! I completely agree, there are fun quick moves, but the slow moves really are my favorite...I think they are quite a bit more difficult as well. |

I do agree too. Sometimes the control of slow movements cramp up the muscles more...btw, welcome Allison! |

hi all!
i just joined this forum, and love it already :) i just started bellydancing on my own w/dvd's (neon, michelle, jenna) and my fave move so far is the '3/4 shimmy'. but to watch....i'm still aspiring to shimmy like the pros :D . i also love shimmies w/layering (undulations or walking).

for slow moves, rachel brice has incredible control! |

| It's been years since I've taken belly dance lessons, but had such a great time when I did. Like any dance, there's definitely a learning curve to it. I'd have to say my favorite move is the walking shimmy. It took me a long time to get it and when it finally came, I was thrilled! It just clicked. I enjoy watching all of the moves but if I had to choose one I'd say it is the Mayan. I can appreciate how difficult it is to perfect the vertical figure 8. (I never perfected it :? ) |
