Hello!
Why do we have one separate category for breakdancing, but not anything that says popping, locking, booglu or newstyle?

Hmmm...pr, I can't answer that what for you...

Being not very familiar with any of those styles of dancing, I would have probably thought to put popping and locking under hip hop, and the booglue and newstyle under breakdancing.

Can you tell me more about each style of dance or recommend sites? I look forward to learning more!

I got a typing error... it should be boogalu (Other variants is also possible e.g. boogaloo or similar). A dance type that I forgot is house.

I haven't been into these dances (yet? I have too many dances to learn... :? ), but I can recognise most of them. It is hard for me to descibe the differences between the dances since I'm not a native english speaker, but I can recommend a website. A great site to see videos of popping, locking, newstyle, breakdancing and more is  style2ouf.com. Choose "videos" and then click at "choose your type of video" to chooce which dance type to show. They also sell videos and other stuff.

For me all styles would fit under the same category and that is streetdance or maybe hip hop. (I'm not shure about the difference between streetdance and hip hop.)

Shoot...I had a really great reply all typed out and then my computer had issues just as I pressed submit...now I have to try to remember it...

Thanks for the update, pr!

I'll have to check out the website and learn about each of the styles. I'll also do some additional research and see if I can get some descriptions to post on my personal site...I'm all about educating everyone on anything and everthing dance related.

Another quick thought... Depending on who you talk hip hop, street dance, break dance, etc. are all unique styles of dance yet they fall under one main category of dance. It's like tap...there are many different types and styles of tap dancing yet they are all tap dance. I suppose, this general category would be hip hop with each of the styles serving as different branches of hip hop.

My suggestion would be to have one category with breakdancing and one combined category with "popping, locking and boogaloo" (Maybe boogaloo is a more correct spelling than boogalu in english. I don't know!) Maybe these categories could be placed as subcategories to a overall category called Hip Hop? I'm not very good at this... maybe someone else have any other suggestions??? For example where to place newstyle...

OK, We can certainly make some changes... but I want to wait a little while and see what other input, if any, people may have (rather than making several sets of changes), sound good?

Unfortunately, phpBB doesn't allow subforums like some of the other types of forum software out there. I like the idea of Hip Hop as one, breakdancing as another and pop and lock, boogaloo as another. Hip hop can be taken as the studio class-style, whereas the pop & lock and boogaloo are more self-taught and emulation-based (as far as I've seen...I've kinda been out of the environment lately though) and breakdancing is just its' own beast. ;)

I have been thinking and concluded that Popping, Locking and Boogaloo would fit much better under "Hip Hop" instead of "Breakdancing". What do you think? Can we make the change now? :P
